Del Rey Lagoon

The Del Rey Lagoon is a manmade lagoon that is the home to a variety of waterfowl—such as geese, cranes, seagulls, and ducks. It is just one block from the Play del Rey beach, meaning that you can still enjoy the ocean view. While swimming is not allowed in the lagoon itself, it is a nice place to relax and unwind. The Lagoon was once part of a larger lake that connected with what is now the Venice canals. The lagoon features a playground for the kids, a baseball diamond and a grassy lounge area with picnic tables.

Have A Bonfire At Dockweiler Beach

Dockweiler Beach is a 3 mile long stretch of sand, which can be found at Empire and Vista del mar. While you can enjoy standard beach activities at this beach—it is unique because it is a popular location for bonfires. There are multiple fire pits spread out along the beach, making this a perfect place to roast hot dogs and make s’mores. Head to the beach early—especially on the weekends when the fire pits fill up quickly in the hours before sunset.

If you are a fan of Top Chef, head to Playa Provisions to enjoy one of the 4 restaurants by Season 10 runner up Brook Williamson and her husband Nick Roberts.
